<UAE Labour Law> Concerning Additional Wages for Overtime Work
The regulation of labor relations [federal law no. 8, Issued on 20/04/1980] states that:
- the maximum number of ordinary working hours for adult workers shall be eight hours per day, or forty-eight hours per week.
- the daily working hours shall be regulated so that the worker does not work more than five consecutive hours without intervals for rest.
- If the worker circumstances should require the carrying out more than the ordinary working hours, the employer shall pay to the worker an additional wage on following:
1) Overtime working: an addition of at least 25% of the ordinary hourly wage
2) Overtime (9 pm ~ 4 am) working: an addition of at least 50% of the ordinary hourly wage
3) Friday working: a substitute rest day or basic wage for the ordinary working hours in addition to 50% at least of the said wage
4) Holiday or Leave working: a substitute rest day plus basic wage for the ordinary working hours in addition to 50% at least of the said wage (or basic wage for the ordinary working hours in addition to 150% of the basic salary without a substitute rest day)
